There are days when I am not 100%, but I am not in crisis.
Those are the days when I find making a gratitude list most helpful.
Imagine a hot air balloon weighed down near the ground.
As the balloon is filled with warm air, the weights are removed
as it rises into the air.
On days when I feel weighed down and nothing seems to lift my mood
I grab a piece of paper and begin to write down anything I can be
thankful for.
I start with things I am physically able to do.
Move without Assistance
Feed Myself
See
Speak for Myself
Clear Mind
Then I think about who is around me that I am thankful for.
My housemate who is supportive
My faith friends who love me
My co-workers who make me laugh
My family who loves me
My neighbors who help when needed
After that I think about what I have accomplished in the last year.
Good Paying Job
Self Confidence
Better Physical Health
Big Garden
Reliable Vehicle
Finally, I think about internal qualities that I have.
Hope
Joy
Trauma Healing
Faith in myself
Emotional Wellness
At this point my list could keep going and sometimes I let it keep growing.
No matter what is going on in your life there are things that you can be thankful for.
In fact, I am thankful for you joining me on this journey.
Lightbulb Moment! Even writing this list has raised my mood
